Vascular Screening Event August 17th
Know your risk for heart attack or stroke
Our Heart and Vascular Institute is offering a cutting-edge vascular health screening event open to the general public on Thursday, August 17th, 2017 at Southwest General Hospital. AngioScreen® is an ultrasound vascular screening technology providing potentially lifesaving information about an individual’s risk of heart attack or stroke.
AngioScreen® uses non-invasive, non diagnostic ultrasound technology to provide potentially lifesaving information about your heart rhythm, neck and leg arteries and fitness. The cost is $50.00 per participant and includes:
- Stroke Screening: An ultrasound of the left and right carotid arteries for blockage leading to stroke. The Peak Systolic Velocity (PSV) can determine the percentage of a carotid artery blockage.
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm: An abdominal aorta aneurysm (AAA) scan since most aortic aneurysms have no symptoms until it is too late.
- Peripheral Arterial Disease: Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) study to determine blockage in the legs.
- Atrial Fibrillation: A simple EKG, which tests for atrial fibrillation.
- Height, Weight and BMI
The scan takes approximately 10 minutes to complete and provides actual pictures of your arteries that you can share with your personal physician. NOTE: Screening tests do NOT replace regular examinations and consultation with your personal physician.
