Visitor Information

Visiting Hours

General visiting hours are from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Sunday. Extended visiting hours may be arranged at the discretion of the patient’s physician and the nursing supervisor. Visitors may be asked to leave a patient’s room during tests and treatments.

Intensive Care Unit Visiting Hours
Special visiting hours are in place for patients in the Intensive Care Unit. Visiting hours daily are:

  • 8:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.
  • 11:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
  • 2:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
  • 5:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
  • 8:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

We kindly ask that visitors are limited to two at a time inside ICU patient rooms unless special arrangements have been made with the patient’s nurse. Comfortable waiting areas are provided nearby. When visiting patients in the ICU please follow these guidelines:

  • Only immediate family members or significant others are allowed to visit in the ICU
  • Due to increased risk of infection, children under the age of 14 are not allowed to visit
  • No outside food or beverages are allowed in the ICU
  • Visitors are not allowed to stay overnight in the patient’s room
  • Visitors may be asked to leave the room/unit to allow for patient care, or in the event of an emergency situation

Adult Mental Health Visiting Hours
Monday – Sunday, 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
This unit is a closed/locked unit and visitors must have the patient code/number to access the unit. Children under 14 years of age are not allowed to visit without a physician’s order.

Senior Psychiatry Visiting Hours
Monday – Sunday, 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
This unit is a closed/locked unit and visitors must have the patient code/number to access the unit. Children under 14 years of age are not allowed to visit without a physician’s order.

Please note, the following items are prohibited when visiting mental health and psychiatry facilities:

  • Food and drink
  • Purses, bags or backpacks
  • Cell phones
  • Tobacco products or any items deemed paraphernalia
  • Metal objects of any kind (other than keys)
  • The BirthPlace Visiting Hours

Labor and Delivery – Open Visitation Daily
Children younger than 12 years of age must remain in The BirthPlace waiting area with adult supervision at all times. Exception: The patient’s children are allowed to visit with patient. If a visiting adult or child is sick, regardless of whether he/she is related to the patient he/she may not enter the patient’s room or unit.

Post Partum Visiting Hours
Sunday – Saturday, 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Children younger than 12 years of age must remain in The BirthPlace waiting area with adult supervision at all times. Exception: The patient’s children are allowed to visit with patient. If a visiting adult or child is sick, regardless of whether he/she is related to the patient he/she may not enter the patient’s room or unit.

Visitor Parking

Free and convenient parking is located near all of the hospital entrances.

Visitor Waiting Areas

The hospital provides spacious and comfortable lobbies and family waiting areas throughout the facility. The surgery family waiting area provides coffee to our visitors. Vending machines offering a wide range of snack foods are located in all other family waiting areas. The Mission Café is conveniently located on the first floor of the hospital for our visitors.

Dining

Our Mission Café is located on the first floor near the main lobby and is open daily and provides a wide range of healthy selections for breakfast, lunch and dinner, including daily hot entrees, a salad bar, grill and a variety of desserts.

  • Breakfast Daily: 6:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
  • Lunch Daily: 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • Dinner Daily: Order from Grill 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Gift Shop

Our gift shop is located near the main lobby on the first floor. The shop is open on all major holidays. The gift shop offers an assortment of gifts, flowers, magazines, candy and beverages.

Monday – Friday 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Saturday & Sunday Noon – 5 p.m.

Chapel

Texas Vista Medical Center Chapel is located near the Mission Cafe and the Gift Shop main lobby entrance on the first floor. Patients and their families are welcome to visit the Chapel anytime.
